Turkish bath: all the luxuries of the East in the service of health.
Turkish bath is lovely oriental tale of glass mosaic, natural stone and marble. It relaxes, soothes and heals, being worthy continuer of the famous Roman baths.
A little history
First Turkish steam rooms, which are often called hammams, did not appear in the cities but in the countryside in the fourth millennium BC. Before them the inhabitants of the East - Muslims - washed themselves only with running water.
Specific and bright baths are still organized on the basis of the palm. Their center is a room with a stone sunbed in the middle, and the "fingers" are bathrooms, dressing room and sauna room with different temperatures. Stone sunbed (chebek-tashi) helps making a major bath procedure - deep relaxing massage.
Real hamam in Turkey is easily recognizable by the dome - important parts of eastern architectural traditions and a good technical solution, which does not allow water droplets, formed due to the abundance of steam, falling on the heads of visitors.
Like thousands of years ago, Turkish baths are built of stone and marble, and people visit them not only to wash. Here comes the cleansing of body, mind and spirit, pleasant communication and rest from all worldly things.
By the way, the doctors in XIX century asserted that hamam is almost a panacea for all ills, which made Hammam popular in Germany, America and England. Residents of the Old and the New World treated asthma, colds, bronchitis, cholera and fever in the baths.
Features of the Turkish bath
Hamam have been started to build in our country relatively recently, but the number of their fans is growing every day. There is nothing surprising in that, because Hammam differs significantly from our usual Russian and Finnish baths.
First, the hammam is very beautiful. National traditions made it incredibly exotic and luxurious: the dome, arches, borders, murals, frescoes, pendants - all these delights make routine procedure unusual, fills the soul with joy and happiness.
Secondly, a Turkish bath allows meditating, charging with positive energy, contemplating, enjoying soft music and exquisite flavors. Moderate temperature (not more than 45 º C) and humidity (80-100%) modes provide these opportunities to everybody: the elderly and sick people, pregnant women and children.
Hamam visiting rules
First, the visitor enters the Turkish bath, where for 15 minutes the pores of his body are opened. Now he can start peeling with a mitten made of horsehair.
Immediately after the peel he can go to the main hall and go belly on a marble stone heated to a low temperature. Special person will wipe body of the visitor with terry mitten; pour over with water of different temperatures and for half an hour will be leading over him with foam "ball."
Now is the time for jacuzzi, medical clay masks and massage. All procedures take about one and a half hours, after which a visitor of hamam feels that he gets the wings grown!
